Make Your Own Rose Floral Toner

Daylesford Apothecary was birthed from Bree's childhood love of making flower and herb potions in her home in Daylesford.

Making everything by hand, using the ingredients that nature provides to us in our backyards, our communities or along our daily walks is really how this all evolved.

There is so much magic to be said about seeing a herb or flower in its little spot of soil, or on a tree or bush, thriving under the sun. When we see a plant when it's still alive and attached to it's roots and soaking up the nutrients of the sun we can feel the vibration. The healing is so much more potent and full of energy.

So, if you're lucky enough to have a rose bush in your home, or maybe a generous neighbour who can lend you some of their flowers (of course you'll share your creations with them!) then you're in luck!

If you don't have any in your local area, try your local florist.

Alternatively you can use other flowers like lavender, jasmine, violet. Or just use your intuition to select a flower or plant that you could use instead.

What You'll need:

  • 3 Rose Flowers

  • A Saucepan

  • Distilled or Purified Water

  • A bottle for storing your water

Ā

Method

  1. Separate all the petals from the buds. 3 flower heads should collect you about 1/2 cup of rose petals when packed down.Ā If you want to make more or less useĀ theĀ ratio of 1 parts petals to 3 parts water.
  2. Add petals to saucepan with 1 1/2 cups of water. Then simmer on lowest heat for 30 minutes (you don't want to boil them)
  3. Remove the petals once petals look translucent.
  4. Strain the rose water into your bottle, leaving the petals out.
